As the kick-off event to the annual Verde River Day, this concert is dedicated to bringing attention to our most important natural resource – water. Musicians, artists and river advocates will gather for an evening of music, stories and a songwriting competition.
The concert will include some of the region’s best musicians and the music of the evening will feature “river” song covers and originals from the River Band all inspired by the river and the life sustaining aspect of rain and water cycles.
The Celebrate the River Concert also includes a Singer – Songwriter competition. Contestants are challenged to write a song about the Verde River. Three finalists will perform at the concert, and the audience will select the grand finalist. The three finalists will also sing the next day at the annual Verde River Day festival at Dead Horse Ranch State Park. The competition is open to all ages and was created to support outreach and stewardship of the Verde River.
Event produced by VRVNO and The Old Town Center for the Arts. VRVNO is a 5012(c)3 organization nonprofit organization raising awareness of our natural resources by providing recreation, education and nature tourism opportunities supporting the stewardship of the Verde Valley in Northern Arizona.
