The Clarkdale Kayak Company is much more than just a tour business. We’d like to take a minute to tell you what sets us apart from our competition.
1. Bricks and Mortar
We don’t just meet you at the river and launch your boats. We have an established base of operations in a historic downtown Clarkdale brick building that includes a retail store and full-service restaurant and bar complete with Arizona themed décor—Scott's Main Street Cafe. It’s a great space that we’ve operated out of for over 10 years.
Scott's Main Street Cafe allows us to provide you with a memorable and comfortable place to spend time prior to and after your river trip. Here you can relax, have a delicious bite to eat or ice-cold local craft beer while retelling the experience you just lived. All while in an actual, working boathouse—surrounded by your gear and guides. This space truly ties together the whole experience of the Verde River @ Clarkdale.
2. Family Run Business
The Clarkdale Kayak Company and Scott's Main Street Cafe are owned and operated by Scott and Allyson Buckley and a cadre of dedicated team members. They put their heart and soul into this business in order to pass on to you a little bit of their passion towards the Verde River, this Valley and the amazing life it provides.
Their pride of ownership really shines through in the tailored experience provided to each group that paddles with the Clarkdale Kayak Company.
3. Top-Notch Equipment and Guides
Our inventory consists of over 40 current model Liquid Logic and Dagger boats. As well as brand new paddles, PFDs, and throw-bags—everything is up-to-date and well maintained. Our shuttle vans are squeaky clean, comfortable and in great condition. We don’t know about you, but we’ve seen some funky shuttle vans in our day. You won’t find that at the Clarkdale Kayak Company.
All of our guides have American Canoe Association Kayak Guide Certification, First-Aid Certification, as well as extensive training and experience on the Verde River @ Clarkdale stretch. We have developed our own curriculum and protocol for guide training and hold our guides to a very high standard.
4. This is the Exclusive Paddling Experience in the Verde Valley
This stretch of the Verde is beautiful, diverse and wild. Other stretches that offer kayak trips in the Verde Valley (Clear Creek to Beasley Flats) have a lot of residential development along the river. The Verde River @ Clarkdale stretch is true wilderness boating—with the most historic and cultural elements—and you don’t have to take a 45 minute shuttle ride! It’s literally 8 minutes from CKC to the launch point.
