The focal point of the Sustainable Clarkdale Initiative, Centennial Plaza located within the Town Hall Complex on Ninth and Main Streets in Clarkdale demonstrates the beauty of a native and adaptive plant permaculture garden in all its seasonal color and diversity. Featuring 5,100 gallons of cisterns buried underground, the plants are watered with rainwater captured off the roof when available or via potable water if the cisterns are empty. Trees use the water shed by the parking lot and captured in the nine catchment basins. The Plaza also features commemorative bricks in the center telling stories of residents both current and historic. Stop by and explore the natural beauty available in the desert!

The beginning of your river trip along the Verde River, there are 110 acres to hike as well as a boat launch area. Be sure to register your car so the Verde River Ambassadors will know you're there. They are a wealth of information about the area as well. There are picnic spots here, too, so you can enjoy your breakfast or lunch before getting on the river. Please be sure to pack out any trash, so you leave the area clean for the next visitors and for the birds and animals who live here.
