Tucked in the beautiful architecture of Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village are Nicholas Kirsten Honshin’s two galleries: The Gallery of Wholeness, Harmony and Radiance in the Plaza of the Bells and the Gallery of the Ascending Spirit.
Honshin’s art is an expression of his personal journey, a mythic amalgamation of ancient healing symbols, practices, and present trends in spirituality, science and nature. Using painting, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, and poetry as tools, Honshin’s intention is to communicate the unity of consciousness and life of all things in the universe. The message is from a pure heart – reflected in the grace and humble honor of his painter’s name “Honshin” which means the original mind is the heart. This revered name was bestowed by his father Daiensai Kuden Bonseki Dojin, a renowned artist and ordained Buddhist Monk, after the approval of two Zen Masters in Japan
Honshin has received international acclaim for his work, which he sees as a mirror reflecting the true beauty and healing connectedness of all cultures. In 2001 he was invited by Thích Nhất Hạnh to collaborate in a series of calendars, datebooks, journals and note cards using his artwork and the poetry and teaching of the renowned Buddhist teacher. For the past thirteen years they have inspired and guided people worldwide to practice the principles of compassion, love, kindness, and the joy of living in the present moment.
Honshin Fine Art is committed to honoring the connectivity of all things. In their galleries the ambiance of the space celebrates the energy of oneness though the works of the other local artists they represent: Donna Diglio, Duly, Lou Adams, Kevin Petrilli and Paul Wisdom.
They host opening receptions on the 1st Friday of every month from 5-8pm during 1st Friday in the Galleries. Join them each month with their signature Poetry on the Porch at 7:30pm.
