The Verde Ranger Station is your one-stop shop for information about recreation opportunities on the Prescott National Forest. Free fliers describe trails, day-use sites, campgrounds, and river recreation opportunities; Motor Vehicle Use Maps that show which roads allow passenger vehicles are also available for free. Visitors can purchase Prescott National Forest maps, National Geographic Trails maps, and wood permits. For those seeking souvenirs or wanting to learn more about the geology, history, and culture of the area, the Arizona Natural History Association offers books, post cards, t-shirts, stuffed animals including Smokey Bear, and various other items in a small shop inside the ranger station.
The Verde Ranger Station is the base of operations for recreation, wildlife, and range employees for the district; and also houses the Prescott and Coconino National Forests' Verde Valley Fire Center.
